Just thought I would post a few of my latest scroll saw cuttings. I use no stains, paints or dyes on any of my intarsia.

This is my rendition of the 7th hole at Pebble Beach which I just finished for my son who moved out to San Diego and is an avid golfer. It is in an 11" x 16" oval Peruvian walnut frame and has 68 pieces from 8 different woods.

This is a 1953 Ford F100 Pick-up that I designed for a customer in Texas. It is in 1n 11"x 14" walnut frame with holly accents. It has 175 pieces from 13 different woods.

This is Monticello as it may have looked in 1800. I did it just to do it. It is in a 20"x 30" cherry frame with bloodwood and holly accents. It has over 800 pieces from 17 different woods.

This is a commissioned piece that I did for a local Italian restaurant.
"The Chariot" is in a 20"x 24" walnut frame with BE maple accents and has 300 pieces from 22 different woods.

Thanks guys-- I'm glad that you enjoyed the pics.
I started creating intarsia back in 1993 after reading an article by Judy Gale Roberts about how to use different woods to make these type of pictures.I then started collecting as many woods as I could and learning about the different colors and grains (ongoing) to use in my art.I have collected more than 100 different woods but have narrowed it down to about 30 or so that I use the most. Selecting the right woods for a project sometimes takes the most time mainly because I'm pretty picky.I also design all of my own patterns. The time to create a project depends upon how big and how many pieces are used and how much detail carving is involved. The Pebble Beach piece took about 20 hours; The truck took 40 hours; The Monticello took about 150 hours and the Chariot took about 100 hours.
